MTO News has learned that President Joe Biden is against the passage any Reparations Bill to Black People unless it includes provisions for Native Americans.
U.S. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D.TX) reintroduced H.R. 40, which, if enacted would create a 15 member commission that would examine the impact of slavery and discriminatory practices on the Black community. The commission would then decide on the best ways to make Black people whole.
The bill is currently being referred to the House for a vote. If passed in Congress’s lower chamber, it would then need to be passed by the U.S. Senate and then signed into law by President Joe Biden.
