President Trump is certainly proud of his wife, and he has reason to be. First Lady Melania Trump arrived in Ghana on Tuesday morning. This marks the start of her first major international solo trip as First Lady of the United States.
When she landed in Accra, she was greeted by Ghana's first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo. Ghana also welcomed her with dancing, drumming, and schoolchildren waving mini U.S. and Ghanaian flags.
Melania also accepted a bouquet of flowers from an 8-year-old girl before walking along a red carpet into an airport lounge. There she met with Akufo-Addo.
After her arrival, Trump visited a hospital neonatal intensive care unit. There she was pictured interacting with the babies.
Afterward, she's expected to go to the presidential palace for tea with Akufo-Addo. While there, she will work to promote child welfare.
President Trump retweeted a photo of Melania taken by New York Times Photographer Doug Mills. He added the caption, "Proud of our great First Lady - and she loves doing this!"
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders also retweeted the photo of Melania. She added the caption, "Sweet moment captured on @FLOTUS trip to Ghana."
After Ghana, First Lady Melania will also visit Malawi, Kenya, and Egypt.
