Three U.S. Marines went missing on August 5th following a plane crash off of the Australian coast. Twenty six people were on board the Osprey aircraft at the time; the other 23 members were rescued.

Later on the evening of August 6th, the search was suspended. CBS News reported that authorities shifted from “search and rescue” to “recovery efforts.”

Prayers are needed for families and service members during this difficult time as the three missing Marines have now been pronounced “deceased”. Their identities have not been released to the public.

Premier of Queensland Annastacia Palaszczuk released a statement on Monday, August 7th. She stated, “First of all, can I extend our condolences those marines that have tragically lost their life over the weekend. I can assure the people of Queensland that my government is offering whatever assistance is needed and we have conveyed that to U.S. authorities.”
