Monday night football took a devastating turn for players and fans after a brutal collision occurred on the field. During the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals game, Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier clashed with Bengals receiver Josh Malone.
Immediately after the hit, Shazier fell to the ground, grabbing his back and unable to move his legs. The linebacker had to be carried off of the field and rushed to a local hospital, where he underwent a CT scan and MRI, reported NFL.
Fortunately, testing confirmed that he will not need surgery at this time. However, the professional football player was required to stay overnight again on Tuesday. He is expected to be sent home to Pittsburgh soon, where he will receive “further evaluation and care,” according to a hospital statement.
On Tuesday afternoon, Shazier made his first personal response via social media, thanking everyone for their prayers.
As of Wednesday, prayers are still flowing in from other fans and NFL players including fellow teammate Mike Mitchell, Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, Detroit Lions corner Quandre Diggs, and others.
If additional information regarding Shazier’s condition is released, this article will be updated accordingly.
Please continue to pray for Ryan Shazier. May God bring him healing, peace, and comfort as he recovers. In other sports news, the “2017 Sportsman of the Year” was announced, and the story behind the recipients will melt your heart.
