Millions of Americans love spending time with their pets. However, being a great pet owner does come with some responsibility. Owners need to be aware of recalls regarding the food they feed their four-legged friends.
A major recall has just been reported for a popular dog food company. According to reports, Blue Ridge Beef is voluntarily recalling one lot of its BRD Complete raw pet food because of the potential for contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
The recall comes after some samples of the food were found to be harmful. However, at this time, no health problems have been reported from the findings.
"Salmonella and Listeria can cause severe and potentially fatal infection in both the animals consuming the pet food, and the humans that handle the pet food," according to Dog Food Advisor.
The recalled lot would affect the following states:
The food being recalled is also sold in 2-pound packs that come frozen. Be sure to check and see if you have any of the food in question and refrain from feeding it to your pet!
