Some of the most popular trucks on the market have just been hit with a huge recall alert. According to reports, drivers of certain GMC and Chevrolet pickups may be in trouble.
"GM is recalling nearly 325,000 heavy-duty trucks because a faulty engine block heater cord may fail, increasing the risk of fire, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration," reported Consumer Reports.
The recall is impacting 2017 to 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty trucks, and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty trucks. Also included in the recall are 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4500, 5500, and 6500 commercial trucks.
According to the notice, the connection cord to the engine block heater can potentially short circuit and cause a fire. It's a serious issue and could be potentially harmful to drivers. As of now, GM is working on a fix for this issue.
GM is going to be reaching out to the owners of the impacted trucks soon. Owners may also contact GM customer service at 586-596-1733. GM’s own number for this recall is N182206310. The campaign number for the recall is 19V328.
