Praise the Lord! The missing 13-year-old from Wisconsin, Jayme Closs, has been found alive. She was kidnapped after her parents were found murdered in their Wisconsin home.
Jayme had been missing since October 15. Police revealed details about her captor in the press conference after a suspect has been taken into custody, the Barron County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
Jayme was found in Douglas County. Later, they arrested the suspect based on a description of the vehicle that Jayme gave.
The suspect was interviewed and brought back to Barron County. His name is Jake Thomas Patterson. He is 21-years-old and from Gordon, Wisconsin. He is being held on two counts of intentional homicide and one count of kidnapping.
They believe that Jayme was the only target of the murder. He did not seem to know her family.
Police did not release any other details about the arrest or how Jayme was located. There is a press conference set for 10 a.m. on Friday to discuss the case.
"We want to thank the Douglas Co Sheriff’s Department and agencies assisting them tonight. We also want to thank all the Law Enforcement agencies across the state and county that have assisted us in this case. We also could not have endured this case without the support of the public and I want to thank them for all the support and help," police said in a statement.
On October 15 around 1 a.m., police responded to a 911 call from Denise Closs' cellphone. In the call, the 911 dispatcher heard "a lot of yelling." The police found James and Denise Closs dead and Jayme missing.
We will update you on the story when more details are released in the morning. Thanks be to God that this little girl has been found. Please pray for her as she deals with the trauma of being kidnapped and losing her parents.
