Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to save our lives and protect our cities.
Glenn Heights Police Officer Chris Womack is certainly one of them.
According to Fox News, Womack was having dinner with his wife in the Texas town on Saturday when he got an emergency call about a truck on fire at a nearby Jack in the Box.
He raced to the restaurant in his patrol car to find this terrifying scene and quickly jumped into action:
Womack explained his reaction, saying, "My adrenaline was going a little bit. But in the video, I've watched it a couple of times, I'm breathing pretty heavily. Well, that's because the windows were down and I didn't have the train of thought to roll the windows up during it.”
“It was just a God-send that I was here at that particular time," he added.
The officer’s quick actions are being praised on his police department’s Facebook page: “I would like to commend Officer Chris Womack. Due to his courage and quick thinking, he was able to prevent a burning vehicle from causing major damage to the Jack in the Box and protecting the employees.”
Thankfully, the driver of the truck, who said the fire started in the engine, was able to get out safely with his wife and daughter before Womack arrived.
Everyone walked away without injuries.
