An American scientist recently went missing in Greece. Suzanne Eaton was last seen going for a run last week.
"Suzanne Eaton, a 59-year-old molecular biologist at the Max Planck Institute in Dresden, Germany, was last seen on July 2 near the port of Chania on the Greek island of Crete. Colleagues at the conference had told authorities they believed she had gone for a run in the area," reported Fox.
Sadly, there has been a development in the story. Suzanne's body has just been found inside a Greek cave. Now, officials are working to determine what happened to her. She was only 59-years-old.
Her body was discovered on Monday evening. Eaton was from Oakland, California and was a mother of two.
"It is with enormous sadness and regret that we announce the tragic demise of our dearest friend and colleague, Suzanne Eaton," the institute said in a statement. "We are deeply shocked and disturbed by this tragic event. Suzanne was an outstanding and inspiring scientist, a loving spouse and mother, an athlete as well as a truly wonderful person beloved to us all. Her loss is unbearable."
Now, officials are opening up on their findings during the investigation. They believe that Eaton was definitely murdered and her death was not an accident.
"The death of an American scientist last week while she was on a work trip to Greece was '100 percent' murder, a coroner has told CBS News. Suzanne Eaton's body was found Monday evening on the island of Crete in an old World War II bunker. Local authorities say that there are currently no suspects, but they believe Eaton was strangled shortly after she went missing on July 2," according to CBS.
Detectives say her body was found in the remote bunker about 100 meters from a rural road. The coroner said he believed the body was placed there after her death, according to reports.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time. May the Lord bless and keep them.
