Police Charge NFL Player with Murder

A major news story has captivated the nation in recent days. A former NFL football player has been arrested for connections with stabbing his wife and kidnapping his son.

Now, the former player has officially been charged with murder. Anthony Darnel McClanahan, 46, is charged with criminal homicide and murder of his wife, Keri McClanahan.


The charges come after police were questioning McClanahan about his wife’s death. According to reports, police arrived at the Park Regency at 1710 Prospector Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Thursday and found a woman dead inside a room. At the time, police said the woman's husband was being questioned in connection with the murder.

The incident took place in Park City, Utah. It also comes shortly after McClanahan was arrested in a separate incident for kidnapping his own child and refusing to return his son to his mother.

McClanahan played college football at Washington State University before entering into the NFL. He played professionally for the Dallas Cowboys and the Calgary Stampeders in Canada.



At this time, the Summit County Attorney’s Office is asking for no bail. McClanahan is scheduled to appear in court in November 20th. We will bring you all the latest updates as they become available.
