On Sunday, February 4, the nation watched as the Philadelphia Eagles took on the New England Patriots to become the Super Bowl Lll champions.

In the end, the Eagles were able to surpass the short lead of the Patriots and win the championship. While the Patriots lost the game, one of their key players was experiencing another loss as well. His house was being robbed while he was away.

CBS News confirmed that while he was away at the big game, Patriots star athlete Rob Gronkowski was getting robbed. Someone broke a window into his house and reportedly stole multiple items, including three guns.

Gronkowski returned to his home from Minneapolis on Monday. At around 6:18 p.m. local time, he called the police to report the robbery.

On Wednesday, the call to 911 was released, and people commented about how calm Gronkowski acted throughout the entire scenario.

He said, “Hello. This isn’t an emergency. This is Rob Gronkowski calling and while I was gone, my whole house got robbed, while on the Super Bowl trip, and I just got back.”

Based on police scanner traffic, among the multiple items stolen there were firearms stolen from the house, which reportedly belonged to Gronkowski’s roommate who holds a state-issued license.

Foxboro Police Chief William Baker said that there were several items stolen, but could not talk about the nature of those items as that knowledge will be helpful in the case.

He said, “Obviously the people who committed the theft know what was stolen. It’s an investigative advantage for us to know that as well and not share it with the public, so I won’t have any further comment on that.”

According to local officials, no other houses in the area were burglarized near the time of the incident. Now, police are looking at video footage and scouring the house to find any leading clues.

Baker said, “We hope to comment more on this case when we bring somebody to justice for having committed this burglary…I think it’s kind of a tough combination to have suffered this unfortunate (Super Bowl) loss and then to get home and be a victim of this kind of crime which is, as I say, really has a profound effect on everybody who’s a victim of this crime when your personal space is breached like that.”

What do you think about this unfortunate timing? Hopefully, the thieves are caught and Gronkowski’s items are returned in good condition. In other breaking news, a Grammy-nominated music giant is mourning the tragic death of his future brother.
