Police Detain AOC Outside Supreme Court During Pro-Abortion Protest

At least 10 congressional Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), joined pro-abortion demonstrators Tuesday at the Supreme Court, less than a month following the landmark Roe v. Wade decision.

Protesters blocked a road just outside the Supreme Court Building until police officers escorted the protesters from the roadway.

Ocasio Cortez, who was being escorted with another woman by an officer, held her left arm as the officer cuffed her.

She briefly raised one hand in the air and then quickly dropped it and placed her hands behind her back.

Ocasio-Cortez was the highest-profile detainee, but other members of the “squad” of younger female Democrats present included Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Ohio. All of them were also escorted by police.
