Planned Parenthood, a non-profit organization that claims to focus on reproductive health care, easily dominates the abortion industry. In 2017 alone, the organization performed 332,757 abortions meaning 911 babies were aborted every single day. This number increased drastically from the year prior in 2016.
In wake of today’s pro-life/pro-choice controversy of some states promoting late-term abortions (abortions performed during the third trimester — a timeframe where the baby would likely survive if delivered), Planned Parenthood shared an interesting message for Black History Month. February is widely recognized as a month to celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the black community. Planned Parenthood’s attempt in doing so did not go over well with the public.
“Throughout history, Black women have experienced attacks on their reproductive health and rights. We trust and empower Black women to make decisions about their own bodies and health and ensure that Black women have access to complete and accurate health information,” Planned Parenthood posted on social media.
Many people, especially those of color, did not respond positively to Planned Parenthood’s Black History Month message. Statistics prove that the abortion industry targets the black community and other minorities, so their message seemed utterly contradictory.
Black women pummeled Planned Parenthood over their hypocritical message. Joy Villa, an African-American Trump-supporting singer who rose to fame after sporting a “Make America Great Again” dress to the 2017 Grammys, even expressed her frustrations with the organization.
“Black women represent only 11% of the female population but have 36% of all abortions. You’re an unwelcome evil in the black community hiding under the guise of ‘health care’. STOP MURDERING US!” she said.
