The troubling news was just reported that one of the most popular flour brands in the nation has been recalled over salmonella concerns. Around two tons of Pillsbury Unbleached All-Purpose Flour have been recalled.

According to reports, around 12,185 cases of Pillsbury Unbleached All-Purpose Flour were recalled after testing revealed that they could have been infected with salmonella. Both Publix and Winn-Dixie made the announcement on their websites on Friday.

The Winn-Dixie site stated, “Hometown Food Company today initiated a limited, voluntary retail-level recall on two specific lot codes of its Pillsbury Unbleached All-Purpose Flour because it may be contaminated with Salmonella. There have been no reports of any illnesses associated with this recall.”

They noted that the following products were affected by the recall:

Pillsbury Unbleached All-Purpose Flour 5Lb with the case item code 0 51500222413,  the UPC item code 0 51500222416, and the lot codes 8 292 and 8 293.

The best-by dates for the two lots were April 19, 2020, and April 20, 2020. The stores noted that anyone who has purchased this flour should throw it away or return it for a refund.

Kansas News noted that “Salmonella hits 1.2 million people in the United States each year, bringing diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headaches.”
