On Wednesday, February 21, one of the greatest evangelists in history, Billy Graham, passed away. After months of health struggles, Graham passed away on early Wednesday morning.
Graham was 99 years old at the time of his death and would have turned 100 this November. Now, Graham’s longtime physician has given the details of his passing.
According to Dr. Lucian Rice, Rev. Billy Graham passed away on Wednesday morning at 7:46 a.m. He was in his home, where he had been undergoing care for the last several months after battling many health complications.
Dr. Rice said that Graham had “a peaceful passing.” At the time of his death, there was only an attending nurse present. Dr. Rice arrived at the house around 20 minutes after.
Among other minor health complications, Billy Graham had reportedly suffered from cancer and pneumonia in recent days. On his 99th birthday, his son, Franklin Graham, said that his father was doing well, though his old age came with a myriad of health problems.
Mark DeMoss, the spokesman for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said that Billy Graham was in and out of consciousness for the last several months. He quoted Dr. Rice saying, “He just wore out.”
According to the Daily Journal, Graham’s body was moved on Wednesday to an Asheville funeral home. He will be taken to Charlotte on Saturday in a procession, which will end at the Billy Graham Museum and Library.
Though Billy Graham’s life on earth is finished, thousands of people have taken to social media to share the extreme impact that he had and will continue to have on their lives.
