Legendary Guitarist Dies After Sudden Asthma Attack at Only 65

Fans were heartbroken after learning about the unexpected passing of legendary guitarist Phil Emmanuel. The musician died on Thursday evening, May 25th at only 65 years old.

According to SMH, Emmanuel died as a result of a sudden asthma attack. His brother, Darcy, announced his death shortly after he passed.

“On behalf of the family, it is with great sadness that I announce the passing of our much loved brother, Philip Ernest Emmanuel,” Darcy said in a statement. “We are all devastated.”

Emmanuel was famously-known in Australia but eventually rose to global fame while touring with his brother Tommy Emmanuel. The two played alongside several well-known music artists including Chet Atkins, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson, reported News.com.au.
