Beloved Actor Dies at 78 Following Remission from Cancer, Cause of Death Unknown

On Wednesday, December 5, the sad news was confirmed that actor Peter Armitage has passed away. The soap star died at the age of 78.

Armitage was best known for playing Bill Webster on Coronation Street. His costar, Charlie Lawson, made the sad announcement on Twitter about Armitage's death.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no cause of death had been revealed. However, four years ago the actor reportedly revealed that he was in remission from bowel cancer.

In 1984, Armitage began his long history with Coronation Street. At that time, he only worked on the show for six months. Between 1995-1997, he returned to the show, and then again from 2006-2011.

Beyond his most famous Soap, Peter also acted on several other commercials and TV shows.

Following the news of his death,  several costars took to social media to mourn the loss. They all agreed that Peter was a joy to work with.
