Pence Speaks at US Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Conference, Delivers Surprising Message

Vice President Pence spoke at a conference Thursday sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, attended by business leaders from across the country. His words offered comfort and reassurance at a time when the Trump administration is riled by a series of crises.

“Whatever Washington D.C. may be focused on at any given time,” he told the 350 or so business leaders attending the Invest in America! Summit, “rest assured, President Donald Trump will never stop fighting for the issues that matter most to the American people.”

He explained those issues to be “good jobs, safe streets and a boundless America future.”

Instead of referencing any of the controversies surrounding the White House, Pence touted Trump’s accomplishments to-date.

Those include a rollback of some of Obama administration regulations, as well as green-lighting pipeline projects that had previously stalled.

In reference to the Affordable Care Act, an Obama-era policy, Pence said that “President Trump is keeping his promise to repeal and replace Obamacare.” The Republican bill has so far passed the House and is awaiting the Senate’s rewrite and approval.

He also mentioned Trump’s campaign promises waiting to be addressed, including his tax plan, which aims at lowering the corporate tax rate to 15 percent, according to the Washington Post.

“If you take nothing else from what I say today, know this: President Donald Trump is committed to signing the most significant and consequential tax relief in American history,” said Pence.
