Palestinians Call for Massive Violence After President Trump's Latest Announcement

December 06, 2017Dec 06, 2017

President Trump is expected to make one of the biggest announcements of his presidency today. Multiple news outlets are reporting that President Trump is going to announce major changes to American policy in the Middle East by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The LIVE announcement is set to begin soon. Watch the full speech live in the video below.

The announcement is also supposed to detail plans to move the American embassy from the current location in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. While the process of moving the embassy may take years, given the need to build the infrastructure and security for the move, taking the first steps toward accomplishing it are historical.

Many have praised President Trump for his courage to follow through on his campaign promise of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital. However, many other world leaders and Muslim groups are highly critical of the move and have promised violence if President Trump announces it.

According to reports, massive protests have already broken out in the Gaza Strip regarding the President's announcement. Hundreds of Palestinians marched in protest and "denounced Trump" and his plans for moving the embassy and officially recognizing Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel.

"Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith, reporting from Gaza, said people did not bother to wait for the announcement and spontaneously gathered to protest against the plans. 'This is an indication of what might come after Trump speaks later today. People here compared the protests to a small ball of fire that would roll and turn into a much larger ball later on,'" he said.
