Brother-in-Law of Famous Baking Show Host Dies in Tragic Plane Accident

The brother-in-law of "Great British Bake-Off" Paul Hollywood has tragically died in a plane crash.

Simon Moores is the brother of Paul's estranged wife, Alex Hollywood. He died while piloting a Piper Arrow III light aircraft on a flight to France from Portugal.

While flying to Biarritz, France, when they encountered some thick fog near the Basque country town of Errezil. At the time. They had stopped in San Sebastián, Spain, to refuel their plane.

The 62-year-old father of two was accompanied by 67-year-old David John Hockings. Hockings sadly also passed away in the plane crash.

According to, the aircraft lost contact at around 1 pm on Wednesday, January 9. Locals heard an explosion when the plane went down and alerted authorities.

Emergency services were able to recover one of the bodies on Wednesday, and the other was recovered yesterday morning (10th Jan).

Simon posted photos of his plane online on the day of his death. A spokesperson for Alex Hollywood has said, "The Moores family respectfully ask for privacy at this difficult time."
