A San Antonio pastor has taken to social media to ask for prayer. Daniel Villarreal and his wife, Janelle, gave birth to a girl, Eden Raine, on July 10th at only 31 weeks. While updates on her health have been positive, there have still been many complications.
Meanwhile, Janelle is suffering from a rare disorder called HELLP Syndrome. HELLP stands for hemolysis which indicates a break down of red blood cells, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count. HELLP Syndrome is a severe form of preeclampsia and is a life threatening condition. It caused Janelle’s liver and kidneys to fail.
Janelle is currently being treated at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital while her daughter is being treated in the NICU. Both mother and daughter are fighting for their lives.
Daniel and Janelle are pastors at Grace Avenue Church, and Daniel has asked his congregation and Facebook friends to be praying. These social media updates have attracted international attention from prayer warriors around the world. Here are a few of his posts:
The Villarreals have a sign hanging in their living room that says, “There Will Be Miracles”. Daniel is asking that people attach their faith to this story and continue to pray and believe for a miracle in this situation. He wrote in his most recent update, “God has breathed on this story. I pray that it inspires people to look at Jesus who is the One who can turn our pain into purpose. Let prayer from every nation, rise and bring faith, hope and courage to those like me tonight, needing miracles.”
While going through an incredibly difficult situation, the family is trusting that God will draw people to himself through their story. Will you join with this family in prayer?
