Every year, Pantone releases a “Pantone Color the Year.” The color is a projection for trends in art, fashion, media, and more.

Now, the company has finally released Pantone’s Color of the Year 2019. While last year was ultra-violet and the several years prior to that were various shades of green, this year is projected to be a lot brighter!

The 2019 color of the year is “Living Coral,” a hybrid between orange and pink. Pantone described their reason for choosing the color, saying that it was a “reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life.”

Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of The Pantone Color Institute said, “Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for Living Coral, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord."

They said that the Living Coral color would most likely be seen in apparel, shoes, and beauty products.

Pantone described the color as, “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.”

As soon as the news was confirmed about the highly-anticipated color announcement, people around the nation formed opinions. Some absolutely love it, while others think it's too specific!
