Olympic Couple Who Tragically Lost 19-Month-Old Daughter Issue Statement

On Monday, Olympic athlete Bode Miller revealed the devastating news that his 19-month-old daughter, Emeline, had passed away. The little girl tragically drowned in a pool in the neighborhood of Coto de Caza, California, on Sunday, People confirmed.

“We are beyond devastated. Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience a pain like this,” wrote Miller, 40, in an Instagram post.

“Her love, her light, her spirit will never be forgotten. Our little girl loved life and lived it to it’s fullest everyday. Our family respectfully requests privacy during this painful time,” he added.

On Tuesday, Miller posted once again to think his fans for the outpouring of support he and his wife have received. He posted a photo of himself with his daughter.

“Thank you for all the love and support and to our midwives @lindseymeehleis and @courtneykellis for helping us find the support our family needs during this impossible time.”

There is a GoFundMe, as well as a meal train, set up for the family. Miller, his wife Morgan and their son Nash Skan, 3, plus Miller’s children from previous relationships: son Samuel, 5, and daughter Neesyn, 10, are all in mourning.

Two months before Emeline's untimely passing, the couple, who have been married since 2012, announced that they would be having another child in the fall.

“Happy Easter from our growing Miller Family,” they shared in a joint statement along with a photo that read, “Baby Miller Coming October 2018.”

A few weeks ago, Morgan, a professional beach volleyball player, 31, posted a photo of her and Emeline at an ultrasound appointment. The photo showcased her growing baby bump and was captioned: “Checking out baby with my other baby."

Please pray for the family. This is such a terrible loss—it's a parent's worst nightmare to lose their child.
