A boxing legend is in mourning today following the tragic death of his young daughter. George Foreman, along with the rest of his family, are heartbroken after losing their beloved daughter, Freeda.
Freeda was only 42-years-old at the time she passed away. She was reportedly found dead in her home in the Houston, Texas area. A family member was reportedly the first person to discover her body.
Sadly, her cause of death has just been revealed. According to reports, investigators believe Freed died by suicide. It is an extremely tragic development in what has already been a devastating incident.
"A Texas medical examiner confirms that Freeda George Foreman, the daughter of former heavyweight champion George Foreman, died by suicide. Emergency crews found the 42-year-old woman while responding to a suburban Houston home on Friday. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences listed her official cause of death on its website Tuesday," according to WHAM.
Freeda was well-known in her own right. She had been a rising athlete and had even appeared on television as well, taking after her famous father.
"Freeda appeared in several documentaries to discuss her father's storied boxing career, detailing his bouts against Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Ken Norton, among others. She also made a guest appearance as 'Boxing Luanne' in a 2003 'King of the Hill' episode, which fans remembered fondly," reported Fox.
Her dad shared an emotional message to the world to express his heartbreak and to remember his daughter. He posted his tribute via his Twitter account.
"Daddy I want to Box, 'Get an Education first' I said, well she Brought The bacon home ( degree) 2 Kids 3 Grands (Husband) First Sunday in 42 years without my Freeda. She’s With her maker now.10 kids forever. Just 1 more day I wanted okay 1 more year aw I more decade," wrote George on Twitter.
Freeda was a Texas native who retired from boxing in 2001. She had been very open with reporters throughout the years and had always said her dream was to follow in her father's footsteps.
"I've been in boxing since I came into this world. Anything that's strong and tough, it's what I want to do. It's something I always really loved," Freeda once told The Greenville News.
