Horrible news was reported on Saturday, October 20. A police officer was shot and killed in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

According to reports, a major manhunt is underway after a police officer was killed on Saturday afternoon. The attack took place just outside of Snellville.

Officials from the Gwinnett  County Police Department reported that two officers had responded to a 911 call in the area of Crumps Landing Road and White Road. The call was over a “suspicious vehicle” that was in the back of Shiloh Middle School.

The two officers were approaching the suspicious vehicle when someone began shooting at them. One of the officers was hit. The officers returned the fire, but it is unclear whether or not they hit any of the suspects.

According to Fox, the uninjured officer was able to pull Officer Antwan Toney out of the line of fire. Sadly, he was already in critical condition. He was rushed to the Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he was later pronounced dead.

The suspects fled away in their car but crashed around a mile away from the school. According to initial reports, witnesses saw four people jump out of the car and run away.

All of the surrounding neighborhoods were put on lockdown while a massive manhunt began in order to find the suspects. Patrol officers, specialized teams, and helicopters were sent out to locate the gunmen.

Fox reported that police were specifically looking for one suspect who was described as a 6-foot tall black male with long dreadlocks. He was wearing green sweatpants and a gray T-shirt when witnesses first saw him.

Police are asking for any information possible.

Please be praying that the authorities would be able to locate the suspects. Please also be praying for the family of Officer Toney. Share your prayers here. In other recent news, shots were fired at a mall earlier and the suspects fled on foot.
