O.J. Simpson, 70-year-old former NFL player, has become a very well-known name following his professional football career and the infamous murder trial in 1995. Simpson was accused of murdering ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.

His murder trial was often referred to as “the trial of the century.” Millions of people watched his trial as he awaited his fate.

Ultimately, he was found not guilty on both counts of murder. However, he did result in losing a civil case against the victims’ families, where he was ordered to pay over $33 million.

A few years later in 2007, he was arrested in Las Vegas after being involved in a kidnapping and armed robbery. He was reportedly attempting to retrieve some of his property, but was sentenced 9 to 33 years in prison.

Since his sentencing in 2008, he has been serving time in a prison near Lovelock, Nevada, according to CNN. On July 20th of 2017, Simpson appeared via video conference from prison for his parole hearing.

Simpson spoke on what life has been like in prison and what his plans are if he is released. In order for him to be released, the Nevada Parole Board must agree. So far, Simpson has stated, he wants to be a “better Christian.” The board also mentioned that the murder trial details will not be considered in this hearing.
