A horrible news story is making headlines after a nurse in Missouri allegedly poisoned her own husband to death. Now, police are finding out what her motive was for the gruesome crime.

According to reports, police believe Amy Murray killed her husband in order to have a relationship with a convicted killer she had met while working at a local prison. The killer is sentenced to life in prison.

"Police said Amy Murray, 40, of Iberia, poisoned her husband with antifreeze, placed his body on a bed and set him on fire, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. After starting the fire last December, Murray then went to a McDonald’s with her 11-year-old son and dogs, Fox 22 Columbia reported, citing a probable cause statement," according to Fox.

Recorded phone conversations revealed that Murray had been discussing her marriage with the inmate, Eugene Claypool. She had told him she didn't want to be married anymore and wanted him "out of the picture" for her future.

"Clayton has been locked up for more than 18 years in the deadly stabbing of a 72-year-old Missouri man who won $1.7 million in a lottery game. He was arrested in December 2000," according to Fox.

The pair had also been discussing hiring an attorney to try and overturn Clayton's case and release him from prison. Murray has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
