A faith-filled couple is a rare gem in the Hollywood scene. However, Academy-winning actress Nicole Kidman, 51, and her country star husband Keith Urban, also 51, aren’t shy about their beliefs.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Kidman opened up about the different ways she and Urban are raising their two children: 10-year-old Sunday Rose and 8-year-old Faith Margaret. The Hollywood couple reportedly encourages their faith and takes them to church on Sunday regularly.
Kidman, who has a Catholic background, also has two other children, 26-year-old Isabella Jane Cruise and 24-year-old Connor Cruise, with ex-husband Tom Cruise. Both Isabella and Connor are Scientologists like their actor father.
“That’s how we are raising our children [in the church],” the actress revealed. “Keith has his own beliefs, but he comes, too. I had a very Catholic grandmother, and I was raised praying, so that had a massive impact.”
“I wouldn’t say it’s absolutism, there’s constant questioning—I’m a willful, feisty girl. For me it’s very important that I don’t have judgment. My dad would always say, ‘Tolerance is the most important thing,’” she added.
Additionally, the star couple does not allow their daughters to have a phone or use Instagram. Because of her family’s beliefs and traditions, Kidman often faces criticism from her Hollywood friends.
“A lot of my friends tease me,” Kidman said when discussing her strong faith in God and attending church with her family.
Kidman’s unashamed attitude and openness regarding her faith come as a great reminder to Bible verse Romans 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
