Last year, one of the NFL’s newest players had a major season! David Johnson, the running back for the Arizona Cardinals, established himself as a premier back in the league.

In his first two seasons, he’s rushed for over 1,800 yards, 32 total touchdowns, and in 2015 was named 1st-team All-Pro and selected to his first Pro Bowl, according to reports. Johnson entered the league in 2015 after being drafted 3rd from Northern Iowa.

Going into the 2017 season, Johnson was a favorite to lead the league in rushing yards and touchdowns. However, all of that suddenly came to a major halt after one particular play.

Johnson dislocated his wrist in the 3rd quarter of the first game of the 2017 season. He is questionable to return to playing time this year at all. His injury is a serious one that needs lots of time to heal. Johnson recently opened up about God and family after his injury.

“I wasn’t mad at God, I was just upset at myself. I was more upset about the fumble and putting our team in a bad spot,” he said. “I’m blessed and I thank God for giving me this platform, for giving me the ability and the skill to play in this league. I try not to get down on God. If it wasn’t for Him, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

Off the field, Johnson and his wife welcomed a beautiful baby boy! Johnson also revealed he was more scared to become a dad than he was to enter the NFL as a rookie!

“I was more scared becoming a Father than I was coming to Arizona from Iowa,” he said. “I need to be there, support him. I might not know what I’m doing but just being there. Learning from those mistakes and moments, supporting him. Trying to be there for every milestone. Being there at every developing milestone that he has.”
