The life of an NFL player is not always a glamorous one. In recent years, many players have had a difficult time off the field.
Now, another professional player is having some major personal issues. According to reports, the Denver Bronco's backup quarterback was just arrested and charged with criminal trespassing.
"Denver Broncos backup QB Chad Kelly was arrested in Colorado early Tuesday morning after cops say he broke into a home around 1 AM. The Englewood Police Dept. says officers were called to the home at 1:17 AM in reference to a man standing outside the residence. While cops were en route, the man entered the home," reported TMZ.
The story only gets stranger. Apparently, Kelly sat down on a couch next to the home's occupant and started muttering words. He was then hit with the vacuum and chased outside.
"According to court records, Kelly sat down on a couch next to the homeowner as she held her baby. The woman said Kelly was 'mumbling incoherently.' Cops say a male inside the house hit Kelly in the upper back with a 2-3 foot stick-shaped piece from a vacuum and was able to chase him outside. Officers searched the area and were able to locate Kelly inside of a black SUV," reported TMZ.
At this time, a motive for Kelly's actions has not been released. However, Kelly just received some terrible news related to his career. He has officially been cut from the team.
"This was a decision that we made as an organization. After reviewing all the information and in talking with Vance (Joseph) and Joe (Ellis), we agreed that releasing Chad was the right thing to do. Even though Chad’s no longer part of our team, we’ve offered to help him however we can and are supportive of him in every possible way," said John Elway.
"The #Broncos have released backup QB Chad Kelly following his arrest, a source said. GM John Elway mulled this yesterday, decided today," wrote Ian Rapoport on Twitter.
It will be interesting to see if Kelly can find another home within the league. This is truly a bizarre story that highlights the consequences of poor decisions.
