On Friday, April 20th, fans were devastated after the sudden death of 28-year-old Tim Bergling, whose stage name was “Avicii.” Avicii is famously known for producing hit songs “Wake Me Up,” “Hey Brother,” and “Levels.”
He was unexpectedly found dead in Muscat, Oman, which is located in the middle east. Avicii is originally from Sweden; it is unknown why he was in this part of the world at the time of his death.
The young music artist gained global fame touring in several countries across the world and was nominated for several awards before officially retiring from music in 2016. According to CNN, Avicii was previously diagnosed with acute pancreatitis as a result of excessive drinking, and additionally, he struggled with anxiety amidst constantly being in the spotlight.
As of Saturday evening, it is unclear if his health issues contributed to his death.
Although an official cause of death has not yet been released, new details were revealed on Saturday, April 21st. Police reportedly confirmed that “there is no criminal suspicion” in his death, stated E! News.
Avicii’s body will be flown home to Sweden sometime this week. A cause of death is also expected to be released to the public in upcoming days.
