Reportedly, the incident has been under investigation for quite a while. The original complaint regarding the issue took place in late July. Investigators have since been working through the claim and have recently determined that a recall needed to be issued.

“There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injury due to consumption of these products,” according to the USDA. “Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.”

At this time, the company is requesting that anyone who happens to have this chicken in their freezer to throw it away and not risk eating it. Wayne Farms can be contacted about getting a refund.
