Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., commonly called NASCAR’s power couple, have ended their nearly five-year relationship, reported People.
According to several reports, the couple's romance started just ahead of their NASCAR Cup Series rookie seasons in 2013.
Last May, the couple seemed in love. Patrick was photographed kissing Stenhouse after he won his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in 158 races.
“She supports me through anything I need to do,” Stenhouse Jr. said after the race. “Whether it’s we need to fly somewhere a little bit later because I need to spend a little more time with the guys at the shop or want to go to dirt races or things like that, she’s been so supportive and knows how hard that I’ve worked.”
“And to have her there was really awesome.”
Breakup rumors began circulating after Stenhouse Jr. showed up at NASCAR’s annual awards last month without Patrick by his side.
Neither Patrick, 35, nor Stenhouse Jr., 30, have publicly commented on the split. However, a spokeswoman for Patrick confirmed to the Associated Press that the athletes are “no longer in a relationship.”
Stenhouse Jr. made the NASCAR playoffs for the first time in 2017, and he is expected to race for Roush Fenway Racing next season, ESPN reports.
Patrick, on the other hand, revealed a month ago that she will be going into retirement. She said she would no return to NASCAR as a full-time driver next season. She will, however, compete in the 2018 Daytona 500 and 2018 Indianapolis 500 to end her career.
People Magazine says that, in a recent documentary, Patrick revealed that she had her frozen eggs in order to have children one day. However, she said she wants to be married before having children.
Prayers that both Patrick and Stenhouse Jr. can move on from their relationship. In other news, a legendary country music troubadour passed away at 75.
