The news was just reported that Nancy Tuckerman, an influential voice in the Kennedy administration, passed away on Wednesday. Tuckerman was 89 years old at the time of her death.

Nancy Tuckerman was a dear friend to former First Lady Jackie Kennedy. She served in the White House as the First Lady's social secretary for several months, but their friendship began long before and continued long after that time.

Ms. Tuckerman served as the White House social secretary during some pivotal months. During that time, Kennedy's newborn son, Patrick, passed away. Tuckerman was also a huge source of support to Jackie Kennedy when President Kennedy was assassinated. Tuckerman continued to serve as the first lady's spokeswoman, even after their time in the White House.

Decades after being in the White House, Mrs. Kennedy, who became Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Ms. Tuckerman stood by her friend's side, always diverting the media's attention with grace.

When asked about Jackie's health state, Tuckerman would say, "She goes in for routine visits, routine treatment. That's what this is."

Nancy Tuckerman said that her priority was making sure that Mrs. Onassis's kids were able to visit with ease during that difficult time. She was always considered a loyal and trusting friend.

Nancy and Jacqueline's friendship began at around the age of 8 or 9 in a school in Manhattan. After being friends for years, they became roommates in a college preparatory school.

Their friendship continued all the way until Jackie passed away. Now, Nancy Tuckerman has passed away as well. According to her niece, her death was caused by a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Please be praying for Tuckerman's family during this sad time. Share your prayers here! In other recent news, the actress who tragically lost her toddler and baby just had a moment of triumph!
