Names Released of Victims in Mississippi Plane Crash

Friday morning the military publicly released the names of the victims in the US military plane crash that occurred on Monday, July 10th.

16 people died in the accident, including 15 Marines and 1 Navy savior. 6 of the Marines and the sailor were based at a Marine Raider battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The other 9 were based out of Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, New York where there is the Marine Aerial Refueling and Transport Squadron. 

The crash took place on Monday evening. It took off from the Marine Corps Air Station Cheery Point in North Carolina and was traveling over Mississippi when it experienced a midair emergency and crashed into the Mississippi Delta. 

The following is a photo of the victims of the crash.  

The victims that were members of the Steward Air National Guard Base included: 

Cpl. Daniel I. Baldassare, Capt. Sean E. Elliott, Maj. Caine M. Goyette, Gunnery Sgt. Mark A. Hopkins, Gunnery Sgt. Brendan C. Johnson, Sgt. Julian M. Kevianne, Sgt. Owen J. Lennon, Cpl Collin J. Schaaff, Staff Sgt. Joshua Snowden, and Staff Sgt. Robert H. Cox.

The victims that were members of Camp Lejeune included:

Staff Sgt. William Kundrat, Sgt. Chad E. Jenson, Sgt. Telon R. Leach, Petty Officer Second Class Ryan Lohrey, Sgt. Joseph J. Murray, and Sgt. Dietrich A. Schmieman.

We are thankful for the service of these men and honor their lives. As Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant said, "Our men and women in uniform risk themselves every day to secure our freedom."
