The sad news broke on Tuesday that singer Richard Swift had passed away, according to Variety. The singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer was known for his work with the Black Keys, the Shins, and his solo work.
Swift passed away in Tacoma, Washington. He was only 41 years-old. His passing was reported on his Facebook page and confirmed by his rep.
The cause of his death has not been announced. In June, friends launched a GoFundMe effort to help him cover medical bills for an unspecified “life-threatening condition.”
His friend, Dan Auerbach, who was his bandmate in the Black Keys and the Arcs, wrote about his passing on Instagram.
“Today the world lost one of the most talented musicians I know. He’s now with his Mom and Sister. I will miss you my friend.”
Swift released a lot of music in his short years. He released multiple solo albums, and he was a member of the Shins from 2011 to 2016. He also acted as the touring bassist for the Black Keys in 2014 and drummer for the Arcs. He also produced music for numerous artists.
Both fellow artists and fans are mourning his passing. They took to Twitter to emphasize how much music loses because of his early death.
Please pray for all those who knew and loved him as they mourn his loss. In other news, an award-winning actress has been hospitalized after being in a serious car accident.
