Gregg Allman, famous musician best known for his involvement in the Allman Brothers Band, passed away on Saturday. He died at 69 years old after having complications with liver cancer, reports the New York Times.
Allman’s health problems were known for several years. Roughly 10 years ago, he found out he had Hepatitis C, which he reportedly obtained from a tattoo needle. Shortly after, tumors were found in his liver.
Allman eventually pursued a solo career, which led him to great success in the music industry. He received many awards including a few Grammys. He was also referred to as a ‘Southern Rock Pioneer’.
Since the discovery of his death, many fans and other celebrities have been paying their love, respect, condolences and prayers.
Before his passing, Allman stated:
“Music is my life's blood. I love music, I love to play good music, and I love to play music for people who appreciate it. And when it's all said and done, I'll go to my grave and my brother will greet me, saying, "Nice work, little brother—you did all right." I must have said this a million times, but if I died today, I have had me a blast.”
