Legendary Singer, Actress From Several Hit Films Including 'The Godfather' Dies from Cancer

Fans are in mourning as it was just reported on Tuesday, August 14 that jazz singer and actress Morgana King has passed away. The entertainer passed away at the age of 87. 

According to reports, the news about King's death just became public. However, the singer actually passed away on March 22. Her cause of death was non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

King was best known for her role in the hit movie "The Godfather." She played Marlon Brando's wife. She also appeared in several other popular movies throughout her career. 

Beyond acting, King was a jazz singer. According to PEOPLE, the musician performed in nightclubs for over 50 years and recorded over 20 albums. One of her most successful singles was "A Taste of Honey." 

King was admired from several highly-acclaimed artists including Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Dinah Washington, Eileen Farrell, and Billie Holiday. In 1965, King was nominated for a Grammy award for Best New Artist, but she reportedly lost to the Beatles.

Morgana's friend, John Hoglund, confirmed the actress' death on Tuesday. 

He wrote, "She was one of the most revered and unique jazz singers of the last century. We were good friends for over 30 years."
