The search for a missing pregnant woman from Mississippi has come to a tragic end. Mom-to-be Makayla Winston, 21, has been found dead after having been missing since last Thursday.
The first-time mom vanished Thursday night on her way to go show her baby's father a sonogram of their unborn baby around 9:00 p.m. According to investigators, a white SUV may have been parked behind her car at some point and the driver of that vehicle is unknown at this time.
On Friday, her car had been found with the keys still in the ignition and a cell phone was found nearby in the grass.
Winston's body was found, just days before her July 4 due date, about 5 miles from her abandoned car.
At this time, there are no known suspects in relation to her death and disappearance. Officials are still working to determine her cause of death and they continue interviewing people who may know something about this tragic case.
Winston's mother spoke with a local news station about wanting her beloved daughter to make a safe return home prior to the news of her death.
“Let my baby go,” she told local station WJTV. “Let her come home and enjoy her first child because we love her… and we’re going to take care of the baby no matter what. So I just want my baby to come home.”
Our hearts go out to Makayla's family as they go through this extremely difficult time. Please share your prayers as well. In other recent news, former NFL quarterback Jared Lorenzen has been "fighting with everything" as he battles serious health issues.
