A former winner of the Miss Teen Universe competition has sadly just passed away. Lotte van der Zee, from Holland, has died at the young age of only 20-years-old.

"The beauty queen, who won the prestigious pageant in 2017, died on Wednesday at a hospital in Munich. Her distraught parents broke the news on Instagram," according to Fox.

"Our pearl, our everything passed away on Wednesday evening March 6th at 22:47. It is incredibly surreal that our dearly beloved Lotte is not around us anymore. Our hearts are truly broken. We would like to thank you all again for all the support and heartwarming messages," wrote her parents in the post.

Lotte had reportedly been out with friends the night before she had a heart attack. She returned home that evening and seemed to be completely fine, her parents said.

The next morning, Lotte didn't wake up for breakfast. When her parents went to check on her in her bedroom, they found she was very sick. She soon after had a heart attack and was resuscitated by her mother. They took her to the hospital where she was placed in a medically induced coma.

"The young model was then transferred to a specialist hospital in Munich where she suffered organ failure, according to reports. Her family has said that tests are still being carried out to determine what caused Lotte's heart attack," reported Fox.

Some have speculated online that perhaps Lotte was slipped something in her drink the night before she woke up ill. An investigation into her death is underway. Please join us in praying for her friends and family during this tragic time.
