“Destiny’s Child” was arguably the most successful girl group in the 1990s and early 2000s. Consisting of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams during their prime years, the girl band stunned with their various hit songs including “Soldier,” “Cater 2 U,” “Bills Bills Bills,” and dozens of others.
“Destiny’s Child” fans are currently pouring in support for one of the group members — Michelle Williams — as she recently checked in to a mental hospital outside of Los Angeles, California. In addition to her singing career, Williams is well-known for her Christian faith and advocacy for mental health issues.
According to TMZ, Williams has been struggling with depression for quite some time. The music star has been very open about her battle with depression and isn’t hiding her struggle from fans.
“For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing,” Williams said in a statement on Tuesday. “I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals.”
“Today, I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need. If you change you mind, you can change your life,” she ended boldly.
Many, including hip-hop star Missy Elliott and film director, took to social media to express their support and prayers for Williams.
