The most recent season of “America’s Got Talent” was filled with a number of memorable acts including worship pastor Michael Ketterer, who often delivered emotional singing performances. Although close-up card magician Shin Lim took home the winning title and $1-million prize, Ketterer — a top 5 finalist — was an ultimate fan-favorite throughout season 13, especially among AGT’s Christian fan base.
However, just days after the finale, America was shocked to learn that Ketterer was arrested for domestic violence. As previously reported, the Influence Church pastor was taken into custody after the LAPD showed up at his hotel room. Upon arrival, cops noticed a “visible red mark” on his wife.
Ketterer initially told TMZ that the situation was a “misunderstanding.” He allegedly admitted that he and his wife got into an altercation, which led to the police being called, but he did not lay his hands on her. Ketterer’s wife did not want to press charges, but the LAPD refused to let him go.
An update on Ketterer was released on September 27th. According to USA Today, the former AGT contestant will not immediately face any felony charges. However, he will participate in an upcoming hearing.
"During those hearings, the parties involved are scheduled to come into our office and relay the details of the event in question, are advised of the law and are given suggestions as to how to avoid future similar incidents," a spokesperson confirmed. "While we do reserve the right to file criminal charges up to one year from the date of the incident, no further action is taken pending any additional information or actions."
In wake of the update, Ketterer finally broke his silence. For the first time since his domestic violence arrest, the Christian singer posted on social media.
He shared photos of he and his wife with their children. He referred to his family as “The Dream Team” and assured fans of their strength. See the pictures below:
