On Wednesday, June 18, the sad news broke that a secret service agent protecting President Trump and Melania Trump during their week in Europe had passed away.

Special Agent Note Edward Remagen, a married father of two who had served with the Secret Service for 19 years, passed away after having a stroke.

The Secret Service said that it is “with great sadness and regret” to report that he died. They confirmed that he passed away while surrounded by family and his “extended Secret Service family.”

After his passing, President Trump issued a statement.

He wrote, “Our hearts are filled with sadness over the loss of a beloved and devoted Special Agent, husband, and father. Our prayers are with Special Agent Remagen’s loved ones, including his wife and two young children. We grieve with them and with his Secret Agent colleagues, who have lost a friend and brother,” President Trump continued.

Trump called the late agent “an elite hero,” and wrote that he and Melania were “deeply grateful” for his service to his country. He also declared his gratitude for all Secret Service agents for their “extraordinary skill, devotion, and courage.”

Melania also tweeted out her gratitude and condolences. She emphasized all that the Secret Service does "behind the scenes."

"The dedicated @SecretService work tirelessly & often behind the scenes to keep our family safe. @POTUS & I thank you for your service & all that you do. Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Special Agent Nole Edward Remagen."

President Trump and Melania didn't end their support for the family of their fallen agent there. Photos were just released of them returning from a prayer service for Remagen.

Melania and Trump were seen walking hand-in-hand to the White House after paying their respects to Remagen.  They flew to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to pay their respects and meet Remagen's family.

The photos show Melania and Trump offering each other support after the tragic loss. Remagen suffered a severe stroke while the Trumps were in Scotland.

Although they had just returned from a whirlwind trip in Europe, they took time out of their day to pay their condolences in person. Melania is likely very tired from the trip, but she still looked put together and stylish in the demure outfit.

Please pray for Remagen's family as they deal with his unexpected death. It's such a terrible loss.
