On Christmas, the mainstream media ran a series of articles criticizing President Trump for being the first president since 2002 to fail to visit troops at Christmastime. They criticized him for staying at home instead of supporting those who keep America free.
People took to Twitter to further criticize him. Liberals were quick to jump on the reports as a way to fault the POTUS, comparing him to their favorite President Obama.
However, on Wednesday, exciting news broke that proved the media wrong. Not only did President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visit troops, but they also went all the way to Iraq to do it.
The FLOTUS and POTUS met with military personnel on Wednesday at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq. They spoke to troops and took photos.
President Trump reappeared after people had been wondering where he'd disappeared to since he hasn't tweeted in 19 hours. People also noted that there were no press aides were in the media office and lights were turned off on the second floor where White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has her office.
In her post, Sarah Sanders wrote, "President Trump and the First Lady traveled to Iraq late on Christmas night to visit with our troops and Senior Military leadership to thank them for their service, their success, and their sacrifice and to wish them a Merry Christmas."
This is President Trump's first visit to a war zone since becoming president. What a wonderful way to spend Christmas.
