Since Meghan McCain’s debut as a conservative voice on “The View,” the Republican Senator’s daughter has gradually made her way as a top media focus. Though her political views clearly differ from her fellow co-hosts, it’s very rare that McCain gets into a heated argument with her colleagues.
However, tensions between McCain and the other hosts have gradually been escalating on the talk-show. On Monday’s show [December 4th], a disagreement on the Michael Flynn fiasco turned into an intense and heated argument.
“The View” co-hosts were discussing ABC’s mistake of falsely reporting that Trump previously told Michael Flynn to contact the Russians, when he was a presidential candidate. ABC News later apologized, but people still labeled the story as “Fake News.”
Behar disagreed. In her opinion, the ABC reporter who released the article, Brian Ross, did not intentionally report false information—it was simply a mistake, so it is not “Fake News.” CNN political commentator Ana Navarro was a guest on the show during this time, echoing Behar’s remarks and targeting President Trump simultaneously.
Navarro stated, “Brian Ross was not trying to lie; he made a mistake...The President of the United States embellishes, exaggerates, and lies habitually—and who’s holding him accountable?”
McCain jumped in, “I have a lot of things to say about this.”
She continued, “I remember when Obama was in office, Rush Limbaugh saying, ‘I want my president to fail.’ And [me] coming out and saying, ‘I could never get behind that because if our president fails, it means America fails.’ I feel the same way about Trump.
“I think if we’re if celebrating a breach of national security, something that is so egregious—I said this on Friday—it’s going to tear our country apart.”
McCain—once again—was clearly an outsider in the discussion, which she commented on herself. In the middle of her remarks about Flynn and “Fake News,” she was transparent about how she feels about being on the show.
She said, “I feel a lot like I’m an astronaut from a different planet, come here to try and explain both worlds to each other. That’s how different I feel on this show sometimes. I will say that ‘Fake News’ and what we did on Friday, that’s what I was being accused of being a part of. I don’t want to sit on a show where I feel like we’re giving ‘Fake News’ or reacting irresponsibly.”
“We should take the information we have and take it in time and explain it to people,” she stated, pointing out that she agrees there is a liberal bias in the media.
Towards the end of the discussion, McCain and Behar were practically yelling back and forth at one another. While Behar continued to blast Trump and admit she doesn’t want him to succeed, McCain proudly stated, “I love America...I want Trump to succeed, I want Obama to succeed,” before Behar cut her off and ended the segment.
This comes shortly after Meghan McCain fired back at Joy Behar on one of their previous talk show episodes, stunning the audience.
