Meghan McCain recently revealed that she plans to take some time off from "The View" in order to spend time with her father, Senator John McCain.

There are several things that Meghan wants viewers to know. KVOA

First and foremost, the co-host assured viewers that if she is not seen on the show in upcoming weeks, it is because she is "hanging out" with her and dad and mom. Meghan already took time off on Monday to thank her father's doctors and nurses in the aftermath of John McCain's surgery due to an intestinal infection last week.

People Magazine reports that, as a result of her father's health, Meghan McCain will be coming "back and forth" to and from the show.

She also wants everybody to know that, for now, her father is doing well.

"My dad's doing well," Meghan said on "The View." "I want to thank everyone at Mayo Clinic, especially his doctors and nurses. I think it just takes a really special person to become a doctor or a nurse because I could never do it and it's a really amazing thing."

Senator John McCain underwent surgery on April 15 after contracting an intestinal infection. According to a statement released by his office, Senator McCain is recovering from the surgery.

“On Sunday, Senator McCain was admitted to Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, and underwent surgery to treat an intestinal infection related to diverticulitis,” his office said.

“Over the last few months, Senator McCain has been participating in physical therapy at his home in Cornville, Arizona, as he recovers from the side effects of cancer treatment. He has remained engaged in his work as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and has enjoyed frequent visits from his family, friends, staff and Senate colleagues.”

After the surgery, Meghan McCain provided an update that her father was recovering from the surgery.

After being diagnosed with glioblastoma in July, Senator McCain told People that his daughter marrying Ben Domenech on November 21 at the family's ranch in Arizona was "a dream come true."

In the wake of the diagnosis, Meghan McCain, 33, and Domenech, 35, made the decision to quickly get engaged and plan a wedding.
