This week, Duchess Meghan released her first ever solo project as royalty. The Palace had previously revealed that American actress Meghan Markle was contributing to a “charity cookbook.” The book was written in partnership with a local community kitchen in London.
The cookbook was written to help victims from the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The fire that took place in June 2017 claimed 72 lives and injured over 70 more. For the “Together: Our Community Cookbook,” Duchess Meghan wrote the forward.
Meghan wrote, “I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen; it is a place for women to laugh, grieve, cry and cook together. Melding cultural identities under a shared roof, it creates a space to feel a sense of normalcy- in its simplest form, the universal need to connect, nurture, and commune through food, through crisis or joy- something we can all relate to.”
When it came time for the launch of the cookbook, Duchess Meghan had some royal support. Prince Harry looked extremely proud of his new bride as she was making her speech, and Meghan’s mom traveled all the way to England to celebrate with her as well!
This was the first event where Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mom, has been to an official royal engagement outside of the wedding on May 19.
According to reports, Doria introduced herself as "Meg's mom" at the royal outing!
