Meghan Markle's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has been arrested days after he announced his engagement to his girlfriend.

Markle was arrested on Friday for driving under the influence of alcohol, reported TMZ.

The 52-year-old was picked up by Oregon State Police when they pulled him over at 1:33 AM on Friday. They took him into custody for impaired driving.

Cops performed a field sobriety test, and they said his impairment was obvious. He was reportedly visibly intoxicated, and he blew a .11.

Thomas and Meghan share a father. However, the Duchess of Sussex is estranged from her father and the other members of his side of the family.

Thomas was taken to the Grants Pass Sobering Center. His Chevy Silverado was impounded, reported TMZ.

Thomas has been a thorn in his sister's side since she got engaged to Prince Harry. He sent a letter to Prince Harry in April in which he said, "It's not too late. Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you."

Her father told TMZ, "My son has a serious problem and he needs help, and I hope he gets it."

Thomas Jr.'s sister, Samantha, also told TMZ "His drinking is not related to Meghan. He always drank."

This is not his first run-in with the cops. He was arrested in January 2017, for holding a gun to his girlfriend's head during a drunken fight.
