Meghan Markle's estranged father released a statement after the news broke that his daughter had welcomed a baby boy with her husband, Prince Harry. He was cordial in the statement.
Thomas Markle said in a statement to The Sun, "I'm delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well."
He continued, "I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honor."
He continued, "God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen."
The name of Baby Sussex is yet to be named. This is the sixth grandchild for Markle. The baby is also the eighth great-grandchild for Queen Elizabeth. The Queen is in residence at Windsor Castle currently.
Baby Sussex will be seventh in line to the British throne. In line in front of the infant is Prince Harry, all three of Prince William and Kate Middleton's children (cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis), Harry’s older brother Prince William, and the baby's grandfather, Prince Charles.
The couple will also soon celebrate their one-year anniversary. They were married on May 19 in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The couple announced they were expecting five months after they tied the knot.
Congratulations to Harry and Meghan!
