When the holiday season comes around, many people inevitably begin thinking about a White Christmas with snow, cheesy Hallmark Channel movies, decorating Christmas cookies, and, of course, gift giving. While the act of gift giving can be fun and rewarding, there always seems to be one person who is impossible to shop for.
A common question occurs: "What do I get for someone who seems to have everything they want?"
The Royal Family has an answer for just that. Every year, instead of giving normal or heartfelt gifts, the Royal Family gives each other gag gifts. This has been a tradition among the Royals for several years.
Because Meghan Markle was able to break protocol and join the Royal Family for this past Christmas, she was able to participate in the fun tradition. Now, a few weeks after Christmas, reports are emerging about her presents that were a huge success!
According to the Daily Star, the future Royal gifted Queen Elizabeth II an extremely bizarre gift: a singing toy hamster!
A source said, "Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty."
According to the source, the gift caused Her Majesty to break out in laughter. Right after The Queen opened the gift, her corgis reportedly tried to take it from her.
The source said, "It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy. She (The Queen) laughed and said, 'They can keep my dogs company!'"
The Daily Star reported that the hamster would have looked something like the one pictured below, though no picture of the actual gift was revealed.
According to the Daily Mail, Markle gave her future brother-in-law a comical gift as well. She gifted Prince William a Tam O Shanter hat with hair sticking out of it as a nod to his thinning hair.
Vanity Fair noted that while Meghan's gift to The Queen was well-received, there have been several other gifts in the past that the Royals have loved as well. One year, Kate Middleton gave Prince Harry a "grow-your-own-girlfriend kit." Additionally, Prince William once received a "Winnie-the-Pooh" china set. One of the funniest gifts, however, was when Princess Anne gave Prince Charles a Royal throne: a white leather toilet seat.
